ESG & Responsible Investment

ESG is embedded in our business objectives and core to the Fund. The Charities Property Fund understands the importance of considering environmental, social and governance aspects in its investment and management decisions, and recognises that doing so may help protect and maximise returns. The above CPF Sustainability document outlines the Fund's ethical policy and objectives.

Savills Investment Management (SIM) has had a Responsible Investment policy in place since 2010, which is regularly reviewed and updated by internal parties and third party sustainability consultants to ensure it remains in line with best business practice and guidance. We publish our full policy to stakeholders and the general public on our website, illustrating our commitment to transparency and accountability in our responsible investment intentions.

Savills Investment Management became a signatory of the UN PRI (UN Principles for Responsible Investment) in October 2014. We have consistently increased our score since 2014, and recently received an A+ grade for Strategy and Governance. Reporting

SSH Impact Report

The Charities Property Fund ("CPF") has commissioned an impact report on its Specialised Supported Housing Portfolio, prepared by The Good Economy Partnership Limited ("The Good Economy" or "TGE"), a specialist advisory firm with expertise in impact measurement and management.

 

In March 2022, Savills IM expanded the CPF portfolio to include Specialised Supported Housing (SSH). This report combines quantitative data analysis with insights from in-depth interviews with Savills IM's management and staff, partner housing associations, care providers, developers, and survey responses from a sample of residents.

Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB)

CPF has participated in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) since 2013. GRESB in an internationally recognised sector-specific and leading benchmark, with growing coverage and influence. We are pleased to report our GRESB score has increased from 22 in 2013 to 75 in 2023.

 

Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM)

We continue to buy sustainable buildings for example the Ilkley office we acquired in 2018 was built to a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’ and an EPC rating of ‘A’. There are approximately 300 PV panels situated in the roof with LED lighting throughout and it benefits from two EV charging points in the car park.
