Charities Property Fund to host first Charities Property Forum on 28 January

07 Jan 2004

A major new annual event, the Charities Property Forum, takes place in London on Wednesday 28 January, with the keynote address from one of the City of London's most respected economists, Roger Bootle, who runs the consultancy Capital Economics.

The Charities Property Forum has been conceived by charity investment managers, Carr Sheppards Crosthwaite, property fund managers Savills Investment Management and solicitors, Farrer & Co, in response to the growing interest from charities in investing in commercial property and the increasingly complex nature of managing their property assets.

The morning sessions will focus on property investment and include an overview of the current economic environment from Mr Bootle, plus an examination of the latest trends in the property market.

The second half of the day will focus on the practical issues of owning property, including how charities should comply with Health and Safety regulations, the Disability Discrimination Act and the implications of owning listed property.

At the end of the day, delegates will also have an opportunity to ‘ask the experts' when the speakers from the afternoon sessions will be joined by two key charity representatives: Ian Flanagan from Perennial - Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society and Peter Dale from the City Parochial Foundation.

The Charities Property Forum will be of interest to:

  • charities that own investment property
  • charities that are considering diversifying their investments to include property
  • charities that manage and own their own functional property
  • advisors to charities
